Buhari Appoints Aishah Ahmad As CBN’s Deputy Governor

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mrs Aishah Ahmad as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, subject to Senate Confirmation. This was announced in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina. "In accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, President Buhari urged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to consider the expeditious confirmation of Mrs Ahmad, who would then resume work immediately," the statement read in part. Dr Alade, who resigned in March 2017 after spending 23 years at the bank, was Acting CBN governor for more than three months before the appointment of current CBN Governor Mr Godwin Emefiele. Those nominated named by the President to join the MPC are Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju; Dr Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi; Dr Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr Asheikh A. Maidugu.
